Walen pathway is a varied high-altitude hike with magnificent views. It leads from the Brunni-area above Engelberg to the Bannalp-area above Wolfenschiessen. On the route you will find a unique mountain panorama with views on the "Walenstöcke" and the midland.
The transport partners of the Walen pathway offer a round trip ticket for the routes of the train, the post bus, the cable way Bannalp and Engelberg-Ristis.
Directions
At the beginning and end of this panoramic hike we take the cable cars to Bannalp or from Ristis down to Engelberg. On the Alp Oberfeld, in the friendly "Bergbeizli", own products such as goat cheese, meat and yoghurts are served.
And towards the end of the tour, tired hikers can enjoy a meal in the Brunnihütte. On the tickle path "Kitzelpfad" around the Härzlisee lake, you wade - alternately in the water and on the shore - on bog, gravel, wood chips and stones and enjoy the tingling feeling of natural relaxation. A short descent to Ristis follows. The cable car takes us to Engelberg.
Good to know
- The Walen pathway is usally open from mid of June untill October. Please check the current situation on top of this page.
- NEW: Ristis-Brunnihütte chairlift included.
- The route can be done in both directions.
- On the way you will find public barbecue areas with wood which you can use for a picnic.
- Please do not ride the Walenpfad by bike.
Walenpfad Round trip Ticket
There is a combination ticket for the Walenpfad hike, which is valid on the routes of the Zentralbahn, the Postbus, the Bannalp aerial cableways and the Engelberg-Ristis aerial cableway. NEW: Ristis-Brunnihütte chairlift included.
