ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT

The Brunni-Bahnen Engelberg AG care for a sustainable environment and care about his nature: 

1. The Swiss Climate Protection Foundation Myclimate confirms that Brunni-Bahnen Engelberg AG has made a sustainable contribution to voluntary climate protection by offsetting 347.07 t of CO2 with investing in high-quality Myclimate projects and awarded the Brunni-Bahnen Engelberg AG as "climate-neutral company 2018". This makes Brunni-Bahnen Engelberg AG the first climate-neutral cable ways company in Switzerland.
2. On May 31, 2016, our 27 kWp solar system on the roof of the old cable car station was connected to the power network. We produce about the same amount of electricity with the solar system, as we need for snowmaking on the Brunni slopes. With water from the mountain and the sunshine charging the batteries we produce CO2-emission free snow, you can ski on "sunshine" snow.
   
3. Together with rebuilding the interior of berglodge restaurant Ristis in the spring of 2019 we installed on the roof of the restaurant another, even larger solar system. Now we are able to cover around 15% of its own year-round electricity requirement with 130,000 kWh per year. The solar roof on restaurant Ristis produces more energy than it needs per year for operation.
4. For already 20 years the water heating in restaurant Ristis is supported by a solar thermal system.
5. The water used for family restaurant OX on the Klostermatte is extracted from the groundwater.
6. The family restaurant OX is designed as a timber construction, which was made from local wood.
7. The cable ways have been running 100% CO2-free due to Engelbergs' hydropower since June 2013.
8. The chairlift Ristis - Brunnihütte stops automatically in winter when nobody is on the chairlift. The electricity consumption is reduced by about 10% per winter season.

Solar systems

Old mountain station

The solar power plant with a capacity of 27 kWp is installed on the roof of the old mountain station on Ristis. The solar power plant produced 30,220 kWh of electricity in its first year of operation. This corresponds to the power requirement of about 10 households. 

 

Ristis

In 2019, on the roof of the Berglodge Restaurant Ristis was a solarplant installed with a capacity of 99 kWp.
