Paragliding

The Brunni area offers excellent infrastructures for paragliding pilots. There are three different launch sites available, two of them can be reached easily by cable car and chairlift. All lauch sites are ideal for training the first high-altitude flights.

Landing sites 

The official landing place in Engelberg is on the meadow between the sport field Wyden and the Sportingpark in Engelberg. 

 

The following rules apply wenn you use the landing site in Engelberg:

  1. Along the Bänklialp street and along the surrounding properties there is parking ban.
  2. The dirt road along the Engelberger Aa river may not be used by cars.
  3. Public parking and toilets are to be used at the valley station of the Brunni cable ways.
  4. After landing, the landing area is to be left in the direction of the folding area and the paraglider must be pack his or hers paraglide in the folding area not on the landing area.
  5. In winter, take care of the snowmaking equipment and the cross-country trail.
  6. The landing site must be kept clean.
  7. The football pitch Wyden (artificial turf) must not be entered or used for landings.

Other official landing sites are on the Herrenrüti meadow (at the Fürenalp cable car) and in the Engelberger valley (in Grafenort at the valley station of the Grafenort - Brunniswald cable car).

Safety instructions

WindCurrent weather data is provided by the weather stations in the Brunni area. With föhn and strong high winds should not be flown in the Brunni area. Observe the föhn indicators such as lenticularis, dust clouds and pressure difference north / south. In the afternoon, the valley wind may increase.
ObstaclesThere are many cables in the valley of Engelberg. Note the map of aviation obstacles
AirspacesTake the regulations of the airspaces Buochs and Alpnach into account as well as temporary zones according to DAB regulations
Hunting groundsLaunches and landings in the Federal Hunting Fields are prohibited. In overflight you have to take care of wild animals (keep your distance)
