In winter and in summer, you can walk from Ristis on a road (stroller and wheelchair accessible) in about 1 hour and 15 minutes downhill to guest house Schwand, great food and overnight stays are available here. 

From Schwand down to Engelberg takes about 1 hour walking. 

By car, Schwand can be reached in about 10 mintues from Engelberg.
